Sophomore leads country in wins and goals-against average
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's hockey sophomore Ava McNaughton has been named one of the three finalists for the Hockey Commissioners Association National Goaltender of the Year award, the organization announced on Thursday.
McNaughton has put up an incredible season for UW with a 31-1-2 record in net as she became the first Badger netminder since Kirsten Campbell in 2018-19 to post 30 wins.
The Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, native leads the country in goals-against average with a 1.12 mark while her .949 save percentage ranks second nationally.
McNaughton has posted eight shutouts, which leads the WCHA and ranks third-nationally, and her .941 winning percentage tops all NCAA netminders.
UMD's Eve Gascon and Cornell's Annelies Bergmann were also named finalists for the award, which will be presented during the 2025 NCAA Women's Frozen Four.
