Â
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin volleyball team will return to action at the UW Field House for the first of two home spring matches, taking on Marquette on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Before the match begins, here are six things to know:Â
1. SPRING IS IN SWING: Over spring break, the Badgers headed to Hawaii to play the University of Hawaii in the first two spring matches of the 2025 season. In the first match, Wisconsin dropped the first set after a slow start, but then gained control in the next three to take the match 3-1. In the second match up in two days, the Badgers came out on top once again, 3-1, after dropping the first set.Â
2. FRESH(MAN) FACES: Incoming freshmen Madison Quest and Addy Horner joined the Badgers on campus this spring, upon graduating high school a semester early. Madison Quest, a 6-3 outside hitter from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, was ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin for the class of 2025 and No. 17 nationally by PrepDig.com. Addy Horner, a 6-3 setter/right side from Wheaton, Illinois, was ranked the No. 1 setter and No. 2 player in Illinois and No. 16 nationally by PrepDig.com.Â
3. NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK:Â Over the winter, the Badgers signed three transfers to join the squad this spring. Senior outside hitter Mimi Colyer from Oregon, sophomore right side Grace Lopez from Miami (FL) and outside hitter redshirt-freshman Grace Egan from Ohio State. Lopez will be out due to injury, as Colyer and Egan look to add to the explosive Badger front row. Colyer led the team in Hawaii, tallying 32 kills between the two matches, while Egan added 10.Â
4. HELLO AGAIN:Â Returning starters for the Badgers include Charlie Fuerbringer, Lola Schumacher and Carter Booth. Joining them is Tosia Serafinowska, Maile Chan, Morgan Van Wie, Trinity Shadd-Ceres and Una Vajagic.Â
5. ON THE BIG SCREEN:Â Not only can fans catch the action in person at the UW FIeld House on Wednesday (tickets available here), but they also catch this spring match against Marquette on the Big Ten Network.Â
6. SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:Â The Marquette volleyball team named a new head coach this spring as Tom Mendoza starts at the helm this season. He spent his last seven seasons at South Carolina. Former Marquette head coach Ryan Theis left the position to accept a head coaching job at Florida. The Golden Eagles went 25-9 overall and 16-2 in conference play last season and made its third NCAA regional appearance. Marquette returns seven letter winners from 2024, including AVCA All-Region middle hitter Hattie Bray.Â
