MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team fell to a top-ranked UCLA team Friday night. The Badgers came up just short in doubles action and were not able to hold off the Bruins in singles play. UCLA won the match 4-0, backed by wins at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 singles. 

The Badgers had the crowd at Nielsen on the edge of their seats during doubles action. The sophomore partnership of Tomas Zlatohlavek and Oliver Olsson dazzled at No. 1 doubles, taking the win 6-4. UCLA evened the score with a match victory at No. 2 doubles, turning all the attention to a close match on court 3. Wisconsin's Edouard Aubert and Matthew Fullerton forced the 6-all tiebreaker, but UCLA's pairing came away with the match win, sealing the doubles point for the Bruins. 

Wisconsin sophomore Matthew Fullerton put on a performance for the large crowd at Nielsen. He dominated against No. 28 ranked Spencer Johnson, winning the first set 6-1. The match was ultimately left unfinished with the second set even at 5-all. 

Junior Michael Minasyan held his own against No. 23 ranked Rudy Quan at No. 1 singles. Minasyan fell in the first set 2-6, but fought back and won the second set 6-3. His match was also left unfinished as UCLA took straight set victories on three different courts to clinch the match win. 

Wisconsin is now 3-9 in Big Ten play and 9-11 overall. 

Up Next: Wisconsin will play its last match of the regular season against No. 26 ranked USC on Sunday. The Badgers will clash with the Trojans at Nielsen with the first serve set for noon. Admission is free for fans and the match will be played outside if weather permits.
