MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field team is slated to compete at the Stanford Invite out in Stanford, California on both Friday and Saturday.Â
Fans can check out live results for both days of the meet, here. Those looking to follow along can keep up with live updates from the @BadgerTrackXC social pages on both Instagram and X.Â
1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers took on a pair of meets last weekend, showing well at both the Mangrum Invite and the Hurricane Collegiate Invite. UW finished with five winners out in California at the Mangrum Invite, including a pair of victories for Zonica Lindeque in separate throwing events.Â
2. KELLEY TAKEOVER: Emma Kelley has emerged as one of the top middle distance runners in UW's Track history, and has maintained her momentum throughout the early spring season. At the USF Bulls Invite, Kelley took first place in the 800 meters with a time of two minutes, 3.89 seconds, good for seventh all-time in UW's Outdoor Track history. A week later, Kelley went on to take gold in the 1500 meters with a winning time of 4:23.50, defeating the next opponent by nearly 20 seconds.Â
3. THROWS RISE UP: The aforementioned Lindeque advanced to No. 7 all-time in the shot put at the Mangrum Invite after turning in a heave of 52-0 ¾ (15.87m) to earn a first-place finish amongst the pool of competition. Lindeque followed it up with gold in the discus—finishing with a throw of 160-10 (49.03m), which was just over 10 feet more than the next individual. To round out the day for the throwers, Chloe Lindeman excelled in the hammer throw to round out the winners from the unit, as the Fulton, Illinois native completed the event with a mark of 206-11 (63.07m).Â
4. DISTANCE RETURNS: Wisconsin is sending numerous distance runners to Palo Alto over the weekend, coming off of a strong cross country and indoor track season. The women's cross country team placed 22nd at the NCAA Championships back in November at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. Over the winter season, the women's DMR of Mya Bunke, Emma Kruse, Leane Willemse and Kelley ran the sixth-fastest relay in UW's Outdoor Track history. Multiple standouts from each season will be back in action on Friday night.Â
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers enter their busy slate of the season, as they are set to participate in the 44 Farms Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, and the UW-Platteville Invitational in Platteville on both Friday, Apr. 11 and Saturday, Apr. 12.
