Brody’s 4-under runner-up matches highest-ever finish by a Badger

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — Led by a thrilling, second-place performance from sophomore Kate Brody, Wisconsin claimed sixth at the 2025 Big Ten Championship at the Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre De Grace, Maryland. The Badgers carded an 11-over par team score with Brody finishing 4-under to equal the highest-ever Big Ten individual finish in school history.

FINAL:

"I thought we had a really good tournament overall," head coach Todd Oehrlein said. "The course was such a strong test.  The winds changed each day, yet I thought the team adjusted and managed everything really well. In particular, I'm so excited for Kate and her finish.  She's worked hard to get to this point and she managed everything so well this weekend."

Wisconsin totaled 293-291-291=875 for the B1G Championships scoring 11-over par. The Badgers finished 23 strokes behind top-placed No. 5 Oregon (-11), but just nine behind runner-up No. 24 Michigan State (+2). Illinois (+6), No. 14 Ohio State (+7) and No. 10 Northwestern (+10) rounded out the top five. UW finished ahead of a trio of ranked teams: No. 27 UCLA (+15), No. 7 USC (+20) and No. 41. Purdue (+27).

This marks the Badgers' ninth top-6 finish in the last 15 Big Ten Championships.

"I can't thank our 4 seniors enough for all they've done for us - not just this week, but throughout their careers," Oehrlein added after the likely final tournament for seniors Carly Carter, Chloe Chan, Vanessa Ho and Camille Kuznik.

Brody entered Sunday's final 18 holes at 1-under par, but saved her best for last. Brody birdied 15, 16 and 18 to pull into second place and within one stroke of front-running Kiara Romero of Oregon. But Romero was up to the task, claiming the individual title at 7-under par.

Brody would tally a 70-73-69=212 to claim the silver medal finish, her best finish in a tournament and her lowest-career event total. Brody is the first Badger to finish second a Big Ten's since Emily Lauterbach tied for second place at even-par in 2023.

"I am super proud of the way the team and I battled at Big Tens this weekend," Brody said "I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity I have to compete for Wisconsin and do what I love every day with my best friends and the best coaches. Looking forward to what's ahead!"

Alexia Siehl was able to record a 25th-place finish, carding 72-74-74=220, 4-over par.
