
Badgers rewrite record books at Stanford Invite

Ivri and Livingstone notch personal bests and etch names into Wisconsin record books on day one in Palo Alto
STANFORD, Calif. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team opened its weekend with a slew of impressive performances, culminating in personal records for Bob Liking, Matan Ivri and Johnny Livingstone and two top-10 times at the Stanford Invite on Friday.
Competing first was Bryce Stachewicz, who led the way for the Badgers clocking a time of 3 minutes, 43.75 seconds to place fourth in the third section of the 1500 meters.
Freshman Nick Gilles made his steeplechase debut, placing second in section two of the event with a time of 8:50.07.
Redshirt freshman Matan Ivri made history in the invitational section of the 5000 meters, crossing the line in 13:33.05. The performance was a 12-second personal best for the LShimshit, Israel native, who now ranks No. 9 all-time in program history as well as posting the second-fastest 5000-meter time ever by an Israeli athlete. He was joined alongside freshman Liam Newhart, who placed 14th in section two with a time of 13:45.65.
In the 10,000 meters, Bob Liking recorded a five-second personal best with a time of 27:55.50 to finish ninth in the invitational section. That time ranks second in school history. In section two, sophomore Johnny Livingstone made an impressive debut in the event, clocking 28:24.77 to place sixth–good for fifth all-time in the Wisconsin record books.
