Badger's 133-pounder recognized after strong Big Ten opening weekend
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin wrestling's Zan Fugitt was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week following his standout performance during the Badgers' opening weekend of conference action.
Competing at 133 pounds, Fugitt delivered a key result for Wisconsin on the road at No. 4 Iowa, earning an 8-4 decision over No. 4 Drake Ayala. The win marked one of the highlight performances of the weekend and helped push the Badgers ahead early in the dual against the Hawkeyes.
Fugitt continued his strong stretch with another dominant showing, adding bonus points for Wisconsin with a technical fall as the Badgers opened Big Ten play at home. His efforts played a critical role in Wisconsin's weekend split and first conference victory of the season.
On the year, Fugitt holds an 11–2 record and remains undefeated in Big Ten matchups. He has recorded one pin, one technical fall, and six major decisions this season, continuing to provide consistent production in the Badgers' lineup.
