Wisconsin returns home for three match weekend

Badgers host a Saturday doubleheader before facing Texas on Sunday
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's tennis opens its home season this weekend at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Badgers host a Saturday doubleheader on Jan. 31, facing Harvard at 12 p.m. and UW-Milwaukee at 5 p.m. Wisconsin then returns to action Sunday, Feb. 1, taking on Texas at 12 p.m. as part of Sunday Family Fun Day, with the men's team competing simultaneously against Omaha.
1. Scouting the Crimson
Harvard enters the weekend unbeaten after opening the spring with back-to-back wins. The Crimson opened the season with a victory over Niagara, winning the doubles point and taking five of six singles matches, including straight-set wins from junior Stephnaie Yakoff and sophomore Nathsha Rajaram. Harvard followed with a 4-1 win over Boston University, again securing the doubles point and closing singles behind wins from Kara, Kim, and Braciu.
2. Scouting the Panthers
Milwaukee opens its season this weekend after finishing the fall strong at the Whitewater Warhawk Fall Invite. The Panthers went undefeated in all doubles matches at the event, with their pairs going 3-0 to finish perfect on the weekend. On the singles side, Van Hout led Milwaukee with an 8-1 singles record in the fall, while Durska also stayed undefeated in both singles and doubles play.
3. Scouting the Longhorns
No. 18 Texas enters the weekend looking to respond after opening the spring against Pepperdine. The Longhorns claimed the doubles point in their season opener and picked up one singles victory, highlighted by a straight-set, ranked win from freshman Anastasia Abbagnato in her collegiate debut.
4. Matchup by the Numbers
The series with Harvard is currently tied, with the Badgers winning the most recent meeting last season. Wisconsin holds a 9-0 all-time advantage over UW-Milwaukee and has yet to earn a win against Texas, entering the weekend trailing the series,0-3.

Wisconsin wraps up its nonconference slate in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the Badgers will face Arkansas on Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. before taking on Kansas on Feb. 14 at 12 p.m.
