MADISON, Wis. — The No. 6 Wisconsin volleyball team prepares to take on a pair of conference opponents, welcoming Maryland to the UW Field House on Oct. 16 before hitting the road to take on Iowa on Oct. 18.
The Badgers will welcome the Terrapins to the Field House at 7 p.m. showdown on Friday night before heading southwest to take on Iowa at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Fans interested in attending Friday's home match can purchase tickets here.
Maryland enters the week with a 2-4 record in conference play, having last defeated Northwestern 3-2 at home. Since joining the Big Ten, Wisconsin and Maryland have played just 15 times in program history. Wisconsin leads the series 14-1 and remains undefeated against the Terrapins at the Field House.
After the Friday night battle, the Badgers will take on the Hawkeyes for the 88th time in program history, where Wisconsin holds a 65-21-1 edge. The Badgers will look to extend their 10 match win-streak over the Hawkeyes with the road contest.
Wisconsin split last week's conference matches with a sweep over No. 24 Illinois, while falling to No. 1 Nebraska on Saturday. The loss against the Cornhuskers snapped the Badgers' seven-match win streak, good for its longest of the season. UW's freshman class has made an immediate impact this season, accounting for 51.3% of Wisconsin's total kills 46.8% of aces, 49.7% of total digs and 98.7% of total blocks.
Against Illinois, the Badgers spread the wealth offensively with four players posting seven or more kills in the three-sets sweep. Freshman Audrey Flanagan led the way with 12 kills, as Eva Travis and Jaela Auguste added nine each with Decelise Champion totaling seven.
The Badgers were held to one of their lowest hitting percentages, with a .171 (36-18-105) performance on Saturday, while giving up its highest percentage to an opponent at a .396 clip to No. 1 Nebraska.
