Spittin’ Chiclets crew in town for Friday's game during penultimate home series
MADISON, Wis. – For its penultimate regular-season home series of the year, the No. 13/11 Wisconsin men's hockey team welcomes the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the Kohl Center on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7.
Both games start at 7 p.m. CT and stream on B1G+.
Here are six quick things to know before tuning in:
Rosters: Badgers || Fighting Irish
1 - SPITTIN' CHICLETS: Members of Spittin' Chiclets will be on campus this week to film a Wisconsin hockey-centered episode of Chiclets University! Spittin' Chiclets podcast producer Mike Grinnell and editor Mike Fish will be in attendance at Friday night's game, in addition to spending the week exploring Wisconsin hockey facilities and the city of Madison.

2 - TDIZZLE CAN'T STOP: Senior forward Tyson Dyck recorded goals in both games at Minnesota last weekend to extend his career-best point streak to eight games. Dyck owns three goals, five assists and eight points during his current streak, with all three of the goals coming over the last four games.

"It goes back to the summer and my first semester here, when there were a lot of ups and downs," said Dyck on how he's grown as a player. "It's about the work I've put in all the way going back to the offseason, and just being ready for my opportunity whenever it came around. Continuing to stack days, and it's nice to get opportunities now and be able to capitalize on them, but I think it just goes back to all the work I've been able to put in."
In Big Ten play, Dyck has five goals and 12 points in 12 games played, making him one of two Badgers currently averaging a point per game in conference play (Gavin Morrissey has 14 points in 13 Big Ten contests).
Before his point streak began, Dyck had six points through his first 10 games played of the year.

4 - LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin enters the weekend after being swept at Minnesota in Minneapolis on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31.
Despite owning a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, Wisconsin couldn't find a response to four unanswered Minnesota Golden Gopher goals as it fell, 4-1, in game one. UW opened the scoring with a little luck at 12:06, on a power-play goal by Tyson Dyck. Minnesota tallied a pair of power-play goals and an empty-net goal power-play goal at 16:35 of the third period to seal a 4-1 victory.

Game two was a high-scoring affair, with the Gophers' four power-play goals being the difference in an 8-4 loss. A power-play goal and a short-handed tally gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead before Tyson Dyck extended his point streak to eight games with a power-play goal for the Badgers to cut the lead to 2-1. Minnesota struck again with a power-play goal before the end of the period to make it 3-1 after the first. In the second, the Gophers scored just 38 seconds in, before Christian Fitzgerald cut the lead in half for the Badgers. UM scored twice more in the second, once on the power-play and again in the final minute of the period, to make it 6-2. The third frame was back and forth, with Fitzgerald scoring on the power-play 30 seconds in, before the Gophers retook their four-goal lead. Adam Pietila struck for the Badgers midway through the frame, but Minnesota had the final tally on the power play to claim an 8-4 win.

5 - SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH: The Fighting Irish own a 5-18-3 overall record, going 1-13-0 in Big Ten play to sit seventh in the conference with four points. They enter the weekend after a home-and-home series against Bowling Green State University, tying game one 3-3, and losing the exhibition shootout, before tying again in game two, 2-2, and earning an exhibition shootout win.
Graduate student forward Sutter Muzzatti leads the roster with 24 points in 26 games and he's tied with junior forward Evan Werner for the lead with 11 goals each. Sophomore goaltender Nicholas Kempf has five wins in 24 games played, accumulating a .896 save percentage and 3.54 goals-allowed on average.
The last time UW and ND met was at Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6. The Badgers came back from down 2-0 to win, 7-4, in game one, scoring four goals in the second period before sophomore forward Ryan Botterill scored the game-winner in period three. In game two, UW romped to a 9-2 victory, the most goals it scored in a game since an 11-5 victory at Merrimack on Oct. 12, 2019. The nine goals also mark the highest conference goal total since UW won 9-1 at Colorado College during WCHA action on Jan. 14, 2006. Nine different Badgers scored in the win, and 16 skaters collected points.

"In our conference, it's not about who you play, but when you play them," Head Coach Mike Hastings said. "They're playing some of their best hockey, which looks like even results-based over the last couple of weeks. We've got to go earn what we get. They're going to come in here with the attitude that they're part of the Big Ten, they're trying to progress their program and get as high as they can in the standings for playoffs, and focusing on that right now. We're no different. For us, yes, we had some success last time we played them. It doesn't ensure it's going to happen again, but it is something we'll look at in the positive and understand that we have to earn what we need to get."
6 - HOW TO WATCH: Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. CT both nights, and both games stream on B1G+. Audio play-by-play can be found on 1310 WIBA, as well as the Badgers app and the Varsity Network app. You can also follow along on X/Twitter and Instagram at @BadgerMHockey.
