The 149-pounder recognized after standout weekend

MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin wrestling's Joseph Zargo was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week after sweeping his weekend bouts in conference action.

Competing at 149 pounds, Zargo delivered one of the weekend's most notable performances on the road at No. 2 Ohio State. Zargo forced overtime with a takedown late in the third period before finishing the bout with another takedown in sudden victory to earn an upset win over No. 4 Ethan Stiles.

Zargo followed that performance with another strong showing at Purdue. He earned a 10-8 decision over No. 31 Ethan Brown to close out the road weekend. The pair of wins helped Zargo remain perfect on the week and delivered for Wisconsin in the middle weights.

This season, Zargo owns a 13-1 record in dual competition and is 5-1 in Big Ten action. The honor marks the first Big Ten weekly award of his collegiate career.
