Here are five things to know.Â
1. LOOKING BACK: The Badgers competed in five tournaments this past fall, including the Badger Invitational - the lone event in Madison for the 2025-26 campaign. UW's highest finish came at the Bryson Invitational, placing eighth in Charleston, South Carolina. They beat four teams at the season-opening Gopher Invitational, before ousting three more at the Badger Invitational. Bucky capped the fall season off at the Fallen Oak Invitational in Mississippi, beating two teams in a field with eight ranked programs.
2. DAIRYLAND'S FINEST: Sophomore William Harned added to his trophy case over the offseason, being named the WSGA Golfer of the Year. He was the third-consecutive Badger to win the award, joining Jacob Beckman (2024) and Cameron Huss (2023). The WSGA awards tally each golfer's performance across amateur events each year, with Harned picking up 11,128 to top the leaderboard. He won the Dairyland Open at the Lake Wisconsin Country Club over the summer, firing a final-round 66 to finish -6 overall.Â
The Nashotah native carried his momentum into the fall collegiate campaign, starting for the Badgers in all five events. He led UW at the Bryson Invitational with a 29th-place finish at -3 overall, while landing in the top half of the field in every other event.Â
3. THE SHWARTZ AWAKENS: Redshirt freshman Jason Shwartz makes his first start in the Badger lineup since October, 2024, after battling back from injuries. A former top-30 recruit in the country, Shwartz got his career out to a fast start with a 5th-place finish at the 2024 Badger Invitational. He took 39th in his collegiate debut, while ending his freshman season with a 45th-place finish at the Fallen Oak Invitational last fall. The Floridian was cleared for action in the fall, and competed once individually at the Marquette Intercollegiate. Â
4. TURTZ'S TIME: Senior Spencer Turtz tees it up for his final spring campaign after a strong start in the fall. He was UW's top finisher at 2-of-5 fall events, including the Marquette Intercollegiate and Badger Invitational. He finished 34th at Marquette, posting a +13 on the grueling Erin Hills track. Back in Madison, Turtz recorded his highest finish of the season in 29th, shooting +3 at the Badger Invitational. He closed fall ball with a +1 card to crack the top 40 at the Fallen Oak Invitational.Â
5. NEW YEAR, NEW SLATE: UW gets a month off following Puerto Rico for training and more inter-squad qualifying. They'll go head-first into the spring slate in March, starting with the Schenkel Invitational on the 13th. The Badgers follow that up with a trip down to Peoria, Arizona, for the "Pay it Forward" Collegiate, hosted by Minnesota. Bucky wraps up the regular season at the Hoosier Collegiate in Bloomington, before heading to the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Oregon for the 2026 Big Ten Championships. Â
