Badgers wrap up regular season competition
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 24 Wisconsin men's swim and dive team wrapped up regular season competition at the Badger Invitational on Saturday evening, taking first in every event in the pool.
How it happened:
Wisconsin kicked off the finals session with a strong showing in the 400 medley relay, as the crew of Landon Kyser, Ben Wiegand, Dominik Mark Torok and Cooper Scharff took first in 3:11.06.
Freshman Declan Kelly took home first in the 1650 free with a time of 15:24.89, just a second shy of his personal best. Andrew Hanson finished shortly behind in 15:36.35. Senior Michael Long led the way in the 200 back, finishing in 1:44.68. Finn Bacon came in shortly behind in 1:45.62 as Nathan Welker rounded out the top three.
Four other Badgers finished off the day with individual event wins. Zach Ward swam a 3:58.01 in the 400 IM, as Lance Swanepoel led the way in the 200 fly in 1:48.63.
Up Next:
The Badgers will kick off the championship season at Big Tens at home on Feb. 25-28.
