Herr tallies sixth win of the year
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Wisconsin softball team wrapped up its weekend in style, run-ruling UNLV with the help of a complete game shutout from freshman Berritt Herr and three multi-run innings at the plate.
Herr (6-4) entered the top-10 in program history for most wins in a freshman season, racking up her sixth for the Badgers (13-6) to tie Jaime Prickett (1996) and Meghan McIntosh (2010). The Ashwaubenon native limited the Rebels to just three hits on the offensive end, punching out five batters in her second shutout of the season for UW. Â
The bats took advantage right away, as the Badgers' first three hitters reached base to begin the game. Junior Alivia Bark capitalized and plated two with a single—earning her seventh multi-RBI game of the season to put Wisconsin up 2-0.Â
In the third, Wisconsin strung together three hits in a row to start the inning, highlighted by an RBI single from sophomore Kendra Lewis. Redshirt freshman Jaclyn Showalter drove in Lewis on a sacrifice fly, and sophomore Kaylie Whidden followed it up by earning the first RBI of her collegiate career to make it 5-0.Â
It was more of the same in the fourth, as Wisconsin once again plated three runs to extend their lead to 8-0. Junior Danielle Lucey tallied her team-high third triple of the season to cap off a strong weekend, allowing catcher Hilary Blomberg to come around and score.Â
Herr escaped a jam late in the fifth, earning two consecutive groundouts to complete the run-rule victory. The Badgers' pitching staff has now racked up six shutouts on the year after only finishing with four throughout the entirety of the 2025 season.Â
Batting Cleanup:Â
- Emily Bojan has reached base in every game this season, extending her on-base streak to 19. Bojan is now tied for the eighth-longest streak in program history and the third-longest streak to start a season.Â
- Hilary Blomberg recorded the first game of her career with two doubles, going 2-for-2 on Sunday. Blomberg finished the weekend at a 7-for-16 (.438 BA) clip, accumulating seven RBIs and five extra base hits.Â
- Berritt Herr entered the top-10 for most wins in a freshman season in the circle, tying Jaime Prickett (1996) and Meghan McIntosh (2010) at six. The Ashwaubenon native's second shutout of the year ties her for eighth in UW freshman history.Â
- Alivia Bark racked up her seventh multi-RBI game of the year with a team-high three against UNLV, going 2-for-2 with a run scored.Â
- Kaylie Whidden recorded the first RBI of her collegiate career in a 1-for-2 showing.
- Kendra Lewis was 1-for-2 with two RBIs in the victory.Â
Up Next: The Badgers are set to return to the west coast next week, as they will play five games in four days in California.
