
Badgers win Big Ten opener over Wolverines

No. 29 Wisconsin scored a road win to open conference play
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 29 Wisconsin men's tennis team (10-1, 1-0 B1G) scored a road win in its Big Ten opener on Friday night, defeating No. 52 Michigan, 7-0. Wisconsin notched the doubles point then nabbed singles wins behind the efforts of Patrik Meszaros and Tomas Zlatohlavek.
Matthew Fullerton and Patrik Meszaros set the tone early for the Badgers, nabbing a quick 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Ferdinand Kloesters and Michael Minasyan outlasted Michigan's No. 2 duo to give Wisconsin the doubles point, winning 6-3.
In singles action, Tomas Zlatohlavek made quick work of Pierce Shaya at No. 5, winning 6-2, 7-6. With a Michigan retirement at No. 4 against UW's Ferdinand Kloesters, the Badgers were one singles victory away from taking the match.
Patrik Meszaros sealed it for Wisconsin, posting a 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 2 to give the Badgers a 4-0 sweep.
The Badgers now own a 10-1 overall record and start conference play in the win column. The Badgers are in the midst of their best start since 2015-16.
