
Three Badgers earn Big Ten Honors

Meszaros earns First Team All-Big Ten; Kloesters named to All-Freshman Team; Minasyan is Sportsmanship Honoree
MADISON, Wis. - Three Wisconsin men's tennis players found themselves on the Big Ten postseason awards list that the conference announced Thursday morning.
Patrik Meszaros capped off an incredible regular season with All-Big Ten First Team honors. He started the spring with a 7-1 singles record in non-conference play, primarily playing in the No. 2 slot. In conference action, Meszaros had a 7-2 record and was 5-0 when playing in the No. 1 slot for Wisconsin. His most notable win was in straight set fashion against No. 107 ranked Nikolay Sysoev of Nebraska.
In doubles action, Meszaros teamed up with Matthew Fullerton and posted a 12-7 (7-5 Big Ten) record this spring in the No. 3 position. The sophomore is Wisconsin's first All-Big Ten First Team honoree since 2018.
Ferdinand Kloesters punctuated his stellar first spring season with a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman team. He won a team-best 15 matches this spring and went 8-3 in conference play. In his first conference match at No. 3 singles, Kloesters defeated No. 70 ranked William Mroz of Illinois in straight sets. The redshirt-freshman dominated in doubles action with his partner Michael Minasyan. The pair went undefeated in non-conference play and posted a 12-3 spring record.
Senior Michael Minasyan was the Badgers' honoree for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. He posted a 9-7 singles record this spring, playing at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Minasyan earned two top-25 ranked victories this spring against No. 8 Devin Badenhorst (Baylor) and No. 24 Jack Anthrop (Ohio State). With Kloesters as his partner, Minasyan went undefeated in non-conference doubles action and ended the regular season with a 12-3 doubles record.
