
Solomon invited to 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase

Showcase serves as an evaluation event for the U.S. National Junior Team for the winter's World Junior Championship
MADISON, Wis. – Incoming Wisconsin men's hockey freshman forward Brent Solomon was among 47 skaters invited to the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, set for July 26-Aug. 1 at WFCU Center in Windsor, Ontario, USA Hockey announced.
The Showcase serves as an evaluation opportunity for players looking to make the team for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship that takes place Dec. 26, 2026, through Jan 5, 2027, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
Teams from Canada, Finland and Sweden will also take part in the Showcase.
Solomon, who is a 2025 fourth-round NHL pick of the Detroit Red Wings (109th overall) and is currently at the Red Wings development camp, is among 26 forwards for the Americans at the Showcase. The Camplin, Minnesota, native skated for the USHL's Sioux Falls Stampede last season, scoring 24 goals and 53 points in 54 games. Nine of his goals came on the power play.
The U.S. players will split into Team Blue and Team White for two games, before consolidating to skate in three additional contests. For the full U.S. game schedule, click here.
Current Badger defensemen Logan Hensler and Luke Osburn played for Team USA at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, falling in overtime to Finland in the quarterfinals in Minnesota.
Over the last six years, Badgers won gold medals at the event with Team USA in 2025 (Hensler), 2024 (Quinn Finley) and 2021 (Cole Caufield, Alex Turcotte) as well as bronze in 2023 (Charlie Stramel). Dylan Holloway won silver for Canada in 2021.
Badgers have played in the World Junior Championship for 10 consecutive years and 63 Badgers all-time have played in the event.
