Wisconsin players learning about the next level at NHL development camps

A total of 18 current and past Badgers taking advantage of prospect camps
MADISON, Wis. – A total of 18 current and past Wisconsin men's hockey players, many of whom helped the Badgers become a 2026 NCAA finalist, are taking part in NHL development camps around North America.
Some are draft picks of the team camps they are attending, while others are invited and still others have already signed with the organizations.
First-round pick and defenseman Logan Hensler joined forwards Bruno Idžan (sixth-round pick) and Blake Montgomery (fourth-round pick) with the Ottawa Senators. Montgomery signed a professional contract following last year's Badger run.
Three Badgers also headed to the New York Islanders camp including defenseman Zach Schultz, goaltender Daniel Hauser and former forward Quinn Finley. Schulz and Finley are both picks of the Islanders, while Hauser earned an invite.
Brent Solomon and Jack Phelan, both draft picks, are taking part with the Detroit Red Wings, while Buffalo has draft picks Luke Osburn and Vasily Zelenov in camp. Montreal also has a pair of Badgers in incoming transfer goaltender Alex Cournoyer and former defenseman Aiden Dubinsky.
NCAA Worcester Regional and Frozen Four All-Tournament Team defenseman Ben Dexheimer is learning with the Minnesota Wild, while incoming transfer defenseman Dylan Compton takes in things with the Colorado Avalanche and rising sophomore forward Grady Deering works with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Recent fourth-round draft pick and incoming freshman Zach Wooten is taking part at Winnipeg's camp, as well.
Former Badgers Christian Fitzgerald (Dallas) and Jack Horbach (Pittsburgh) are also at camps.
In addition, at least one future Badger will be at a camp.
