Transfer Jillian Bowman set to make UW debut
HANAHAN , S.C. — The Badgers kick off their fall season down south at the Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at Yeamans Hall Golf Club. Wisconsin's women's golf team will play 54 holes from Monday, Sept. 7, to Tuesday, Sept. 8.Â
1. Last Time Out: UW last teed off in April at the 2026 Big Ten Championship where UW closed out its season in 18th place with a +82. The University of Southern California, Ohio State and Purdue landed the top-three spots at +4,+16, and +23. Now senior Kate Brody led the Badgers with a +17.Â
When the season ended, Brody, Ava Salay, Lauren Sammon, Alexia Siehl and Izzi Stricker were all named to the Academic All-Big Ten team. Sammon and Siehl were joined by Elyssa Abdullah for the 2025-26 WCGA (Women's Golf Coaches Association) All-American Scholar team.Â
2. The Course: Yeamans Hall Club, established in 1924, is a part of the Top 100 Golf Courses list, ranked at No. 51. Yeamans Hall Club is also the second-best course in the state of South Carolina. The 18 hole course is roughly 1,100 acres with a par-70 spread. The historical course has kept its classic southern charm over the 100+ years of its existence.Â
3. The Tournament:Â The Badgers will be making their 11th appearance at the Cougar Classic next week. However, the tournament made its debut in 2005. The Classic is set to take place on Monday and Tuesday Sept. 7 and 8. Monday's shotgun start will be at 7:50 a.m. CT where 36 continuous holes will be played. Tuesday's part of the tournament will feature the next 18 holes, beginning at 7:45 a.m. CT.
4. The Field: Teams competing include Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Central Florida, Charleston, Charlotte, Clemson, Florida, Furman, Georgia, Louisiana State University, Miami, Ole Miss, North Carolina State, Rutgers, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers are Kate Brody, Grace Slocum, Jillian Bowman, Izzi Stricker and Tammy Wu. Bowman, a transfer from Middle Tennessee, will be making her debut for the Badgers.Â
