Why Wisconsin?

"I chose Wisconsin for its beautifully diverse city, endless opportunities, and dedication to excellence."

Off the course with Jada

Where is your favorite places to run in Madison? I love going to the Badger State Trail and the Arboretum.
How would your teammates describe you? Energetic and passionate. I’m always trying to initiate connection and new experiences.
How would you describe the team? Close-knit, hardworking, and entertaining. We make each other laugh and have a lot of niche humor.
My favorite thing about Wisconsin cross country is …the culture here. Our women are friends and teammates foremost and encourage each other to be the best athletes, students, and people possible.
Which teammate have you learned the most from and what have you learned? UW Alum Amy Davis. Amy became a close friend and mentor pretty quickly and has been instrumental in my athletic, spiritual, and adulthood journey.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals? I always meditate to a playlist on the bus ride to the course. I also pack tons of extra socks.
The best thing about the Zimmer Course is …that it’s the best cross country course in the USA!
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you in a race? Being elbowed by a girl at conference in eighth grade and getting a surge to claim a few spots at the finish.
What are your individual goals for the season? I am looking forward to networking across departments and collaborate on event planning and culture building.
What are your team goals for the season? I can’t wait to see what we accomplish on the course with the talent and depth we have this year. I am also excited to see how we re-contextualize negative experiences and “Run for We Greater Than Me.”
What is your favorite cross-country memory? It was magical to hold the “W” Flags and see swarms of them overwhelm at 2019 NCAA’s.
When did you start running competitively? When I joined my school’s cross-country team in sixth grade.
What do you love most about running? I love the freedom and peace of mind running affords. It is very meditative to be out on a trail or in a pack of teammates with just your thoughts, your body, and the passing scenery.
Why did you choose cross country and/or track? My parents told me upon moving to a new school it was either cross or volleyball and I have zero coordination…I’ve fallen in love with the sport ever since.
If you could go on a run with any one person, who would it be? Steve Prefontaine. Classic choice, but he was my first athletic role mode and would love to pick his brain…I have his original 1970 Sports Illustrated issue.
Post-college plans: When I graduate the fall of my senior year, I’d love to land an internship abroad and find a graduate-school program shortly after.
What is your career goal? I am very interested in global health advocacy. Incorporating travel and cultural exposure into my career would be so fulfilling and inspiring.
What causes do you care about? I am super into food accessibility and nutritional justice issues
