Athletic Academic Advisors provide a broad range of services to assist student-athletes holistically throughout their college experience. Advisors assist in individualized academic advising and major exploration, while monitoring the academic performance and attendance of student-athletes through regular communication with UW faculty and staff.

They meet with prospective student-athletes and families on recruiting visits, help student-athletes with their transition through SOAR and other new-student orientations, and oversee a student-athlete’s athletic eligibility from their initial enrollment through graduation.

By providing these services and opportunities, advisors help student-athletes balance their academic and athletic responsibilities in order to reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom.

Learning specialists also introduce student-athletes to additional resources and opportunities such as tutoring and mentoring, content-area learning centers on campus, and the McBurney Disability Resource Center.

By developing a strong bond with each student-athlete, learning specialists are able to best support their individual needs in finding academic success at the University of Wisconsin.
