A former walk-on and three-year member of the Wisconsin men's basketball team, Justin Taphorn begins his first season as an Undergraduate Assistant with the Badgers in 2023-24.

HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior at Pekin High School, averaged 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game to earn second-team All-Mid-Illini selection and help the Dragons finish second in the conference ... His junior season, Taphorn helped the Dragons win a Class 3A regional championship and individually made it to the state finals in the Class 3A IHSA 3-Point Shootout ... Played in 72 career games for Pekin, earning four varsity letters and serving as a team captain his senior season ... Was also a three-year letterwinner in golf for Pekin, competing twice in the state tournament and playing a key role in the Dragons winning the Mid-Illini championship and Dragon Invitational
PERSONAL: Justin comes from an athletic family, as his father, Pat, played at UW-Green Bay, his older brother, Nathan, was a scholarship forward at Northwestern (2013-17), and his twin sister, Jenna, plays volleyball at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville ... studying kinesiology.
