Tyson Miehe joins the Badger coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. He will assist in coaching the middle and long distance runners.
Miehe was a four-year letter winner for the Badgers in track and cross country from 2014-19. He was a member of two Big Ten Conference championships teams in cross country, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2018. He was also selected as the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship recipient in 2018. The Darlington, Wisconsin, native was also a member of two cross country teams that competed at the NCAA championships.
On the track, Miehe qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the 10,000 meters in 2018.
A standout in the classroom, Miehe was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree in cross country and a three-time member of the scholar team in track. He was also a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
Miehe graduated from Wisconsin 2019 with a degree in physical education with certificates in health education and adapted physical education. He is currently a graduate student at the University of Washington pursuing his master of education degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership.
Miehe still trains and qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic marathon trials. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January 2020.
