Head coach Yvette Healy has announced the addition of Karla Beasley to the Wisconsin softball coaching staff for the 2018-19 season as a volunteer assistant coach. Beasley joins the Badgers after an outstanding playing career at the University of South Carolina Upstate.

"We are thrilled to welcome USC Upstate standout and 2018 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year, Karla Beasley, to the Wisconsin softball coaching staff," head coach Yevette Healy said. "It's exciting to see talented young athletes give back to the sport of softball, by helping teach the game they love. Our staff is excited to help Coach Beasley as she transitions from an amazing career at USC Upstate into the coaching profession."

Beasley's career was nothing short of impressive. The Jacksonville, Florida, native was a unanimous first-team All-Conference selection to go along with her ASUN Player of the Year honors during her senior season. She also earned third-team All-Southeast region accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

"When weighing out my options to pursue the beginning of my coaching career, Wisconsin truly hit home," Beasley explained. "I was fortunate enough to have exceptional coaches at Upstate who ultimately led me to this position and once I started to interact with the staff and girls, I knew I had a place in the Badger community."

Throughout her time as a Spartan, Beasley amassed 45 home runs and 166 RBI and consistently hit over .325 throughout her four years. She started for USC Upstate in all 218 games of her career.

The first baseman also garnered 2015 ASUN Freshman of the Year, first-team All-Conference, ASUN All-Tournament Team and All-Freshman Team honors her rookie season.

"I'm so thankful for this opportunity with not only an incredible staff but program as well," Beasley said. "I'm really looking forward to the growth within the program and to soak up all of the knowledge that the staff has collected over the years along with sharing my experiences and knowledge with the girls."
