Awards and Honors: 2019 Academic All-Big Ten, 2019 NFCA Great Lakes Region First Team, 2018 Big Ten All-Freshman team

2019: Started in 55 of 56 appearances … earned first team All-Big Ten and Great Lakes All-Region honors … recorded 61 hits, 10 doubles, 14 home runs and 47 RBI … hit two home runs against Illinois (3/22) … led team in runs scored (50) and stolen bases (15) … scored on squeeze play to help Wisconsin beat number one ranked Oklahoma in NCAA Regional (5/19) … reached base in team-leading 23 straight games … had 17 multi-hit games … started season at third base but moved to catcher after an injury to starter Cross … recorded 15 putouts against Indiana (4/20) … caught a team-leading seven runners stealing

2018: Played and started in all 52 games, mainly at third base … earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman team … led the Badgers with eight homers and 14 stolen bases … collected a season-high three hits against South Dakota (3/10) and Nebraska (4/27) … hit her first collegiate home run at Texas (2/10) … ranked second on the team with 34 runs and 28 walks and third with 43 hits, 31 RBI … set a single-season record for stolen base percentage (.933) … hit a leadoff dinger in UW’s 6-2 win over Illinois (4/12) … notched a career-best five RBI at Nebraska (4/27) thanks to hitting two home runs in one game for the first time as a Badger … Johnson ranked third on the team with 11 multiple hit games

High School: Taylor Johnson, a 5-7 infielder from Beecher, Illinois, was the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year as just a sophomore.

Johnson is a three-time River Valley Conference Player of the Year and a four-time first-team All-State and All-Conference selection. Additionally, the four-time first-team Small Schools All-American was named in the USA Today Preseason Five Names to Know.

Johnson finished out her stellar career by helping her team to the Class 2A State title, batting .477 with 10 home runs, 54 RBI and 50 runs. Logging a .593 on-base percentage and a .908 slugging percentage, she was the 2017 Daily Journal Player of the Year for the second time in her career.

In her breakout sophomore season, she batted .624 with 15 home runs, 50 RBI and 58 runs scored this past season, leading the Bobcats (24-7) to the Class 2A sectional semifinals. A first-team All-Area selection as named by the Chicago Sun-Times, Johnson worked 24 walks and collected 31 extra-base hits, recording a .706 on-base percentage and a 1.312 slugging percentage. She was also named the Daily Journal Player of the Year.

She excels in the classroom too, sporting a 4.1 GPA and is a three-year member of the National Honor Society. Johnson was also named a 2017 BHS scholar athlete and a 2017 Daily Journal scholar athlete honorable mention.

Johnson played in the 2014 Chicago Sun-Times Bandits vs. High School All Star game. She is also a three-time RVC Player of the Year in basketball, scoring 1,875 career points.

Healy on Johnson: Taylor Johnson is a competitive, physical hitter and defender. She calls as good of a game as you’ll see, behind the plate. She has the ability to hit monstrous home runs, and attack bases with her agility. After competing in Bill Conroy’s Beverly Bandits organization, she’s prepared herself to hit against the top pitchers in the country.
