Abby Sherard enters her third season with the Badgers. She is the strength and conditioning coach for the women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf and spirit squad programs.
Sherard came to Wisconsin as the strength and conditioning coach after serving as an assistant director of sports performance at Old Dominion University for two years. At ODU, she worked primarily with women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, swimming and diving, and women’s rowing while also supervising team nutritional support.
Prior to joining ODU Sports Performance, Sherard spent a year at Wisconsin interning with the men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s hockey programs, and men’s and women’s golf, and women’s tennis.
From 2014-15, Sherard was the graduate assistant strength coach at the University of New Haven working specifically with women’s tennis, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s and women’s long distance track and field, while assisting with all other sports. She earned her master’s degree in management of sports industries from New Haven in 2016.
Sherard is a 2014 graduate of Winona State, earning her degree in exercise science with a minor in coaching and psychology. She played five years for WSU’s basketball program, serving as a two-time team captain. The Warriors won the 2011 NSIC Conference Tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Sherard was named an All-NSIC second-team in 2014 was named the Winona State Female Athlete of the Year that same year. She also interned with the Warrior’s strength and conditioning program for two years.
Sherard is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, United States Weightlifting, and Precision Nutrition.
