Why Wisconsin?

"I chose Wisconsin because of its rich and successful athletic history, prestigious academics, and its beautiful campus. The team and coaching staff welcomed me like family, and I knew that I could succeed in all aspects of my life by becoming a student-athlete here."

Off the Course with Victoria

Where is your favorite places to run in Madison? Lakeshore and the Picnic Point trails, and through the Arb
How would your teammates describe you? Fun and outgoing, but also dedicated and driven in athletics as well as academics
How would you describe the team? Family. We support, fight, and love each other like family. We do everything together and we push each other to be our best selves in all aspects of our lives. We truly want what’s best for each other and are overwhelming willing to help each other reach our goals.
My favorite thing about Wisconsin cross country is: the balance that we can have between having fun and not taking things too seriously and being dedicated and focused to accomplish the goals we have set for the team and for ourselves.
Which teammate have you learned the most from and what have you learned? Madison Mooney. She has taught me how to push myself when I didn’t think I could go further. She has also inspired me to be a better teammate and to impact as many people as I can with kind words and genuine actions.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals? I always have one of the athletes braid my hair a certain way and I always eat the same things before each race.
The best thing about the Zimmer Course is: running up the finishing stretch with tons of fans screaming on both sides.
What are your individual goals for the season? Top 15 at the Big Ten Championships and be top 60 at nationals
What are your team goals for the season? Big Ten champions and to finish top four at nationals.
What is your favorite cross country memory? When the entire team traveled to nationals in 2019 and watched the girls race while carrying the huge “W” flags around the course.
When did you start running competitively? Seventh grade
What do you love most about running? The sense of community and friendships that running has brought to me. I also love the feeling of accomplishing a big goal knowing I poured my body’s absolute max into achieving it.
Why did you choose cross country and/or track? My brothers ran when I was younger, so I also decided to join the team. I also loved running in soccer, so I figured I would be good at long distance running as well.
If you could go on a run with any one person, who would it be?  I would run with Emma Coburn because she is a big role model for me.
What is your career goal? Work in the sports industry at a company like Nike or Under Armour to develop and test running shoes to help enhance performance and prevent injury
