Jackie (Friesen) Crum, a former Wisconsin women's hockey player, will enter her 17th season on the Badger bench during the 2025-26 season.
After serving as a short-term assistant during the 2009-10 season, Crum was officially appointed as an assistant coach of the Badgers for the 2010-11 campaign. She also brings a wealth of playing experience to coaching and is familiar with the program at UW after suiting up for the Badgers for four seasons.

Crum returned to the UW bench to assist interim head coach Tracy DeKeyser during the 2009-10 season while head coach Mark Johnson took a one-year sabbatical to coach the U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.
Crum, who works with the Badgers' forwards, has helped the Badgers to 13 Frozen Fours, capturing the championship in 2011, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025. She also helped Wisconsin win nine WCHA Playoff Championships and seven WCHA regular season titles.
She has also helped coach and oversee the development of three Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winners (Meghan Duggan, Brianna Decker and Casey O'Brien), 10 All-Americans (Decker, Duggan, Laila Edwards, Hilary Knight, Sarah Nurse, Casey O'Brien, Annie Pankowski, Kirsten Simms, Abby Roque and Daryl Watts), and seven forwards (Emily Clark, Decker, Duggan, Knight, Nurse, Roque and Blayre Turnbull) that skated at the 2018 or 2022 Winter Olympics.
Crum also made her mark coaching internationally, as the Regina, Saskatchewan, native, serving as an assistant coach for the Canadian U-18 team from 2013-2015. The Canadian U-18 team won gold at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship before taking home silver at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship
Skating with the Badgers for four seasons from 2001-05, Crum accumulated 53 goals and 34 assists in her 136 games for the UW. An assistant captain in her final season, she also earned Academic All-WCHA honors in 2003 and recorded three hat tricks in her career at Wisconsin.
Crum also served as an undergraduate assistant coach for the Badgers during the 2005-2006 season, helping coach the squad to its first national championship.
No stranger to international play, Crum went on to play professional hockey overseas where she competed in Switzerland for a year before playing for HC Slavia Praha in the Czech Republic. Her team won back-to-back titles in the Elite European League and was two-time Czech League Champions in 2008 and 2009.
Crum married Tim Crum in 2016 and the couple resides in Middleton with their daughters, Riley and Blake.
