Why Wisconsin?

"I chose Wisconsin because I felt like the school could help me achieve my goals as a wrestler and a student. The athletes want to be great on and off the mat and I think it set a great example for me. I felt like I was already part of the team when I got here and that was a major factor in choosing Wisconsin.

Off the Mat with Zander:

My favorite thing about Wisconsin Wrestling is: My favorite thing is probably the way the coaches and wrestlers all get along and are a family.
Before each match, I: pray!
A non-athletic talent I have is: Shooting. I’m a pretty decent shot with a rifle.
One thing I absolutely have to do before I turn 40: Try to act in a movie.
Favorite quote: “I’ll make the difference” -JD Hawkins
Most memorable wrestling achievement or favorite wrestling moment: Winning State my senior year.
If I could change one thing in wrestling, it would be: To add a push out rule to folkstyle so people have to wrestle in the center of the mat.
Best UW memory: Going to Samba and eating everything in sight!
If you were stranded on an island, which two teammates would you bring with you and why? Evan, because he is my twin and he knows a little bit of how to stay alive in a survival situation. Eli Stickley, because he is good to be around and can help get the mood up if necessary in the situation.
Greatest fear: Spiders. They are stuff of nightmares.
What song would you put on the soundtrack to your life? Ooh Ahh by Grits.
If you could be a member of any TV-sitcom family, which would it be? Friends! It’s my favorite tv show and I think I would fit right in with their goofiness.
What is your favorite movie line or scene? “Is there no one else!” -Achilles in Troy
What is your favorite book? The Outsiders
Favorite UW athlete? Isaac Jordan
Favorite athlete? Walter Payton
Favorite road trip? Murrieta, CA to Reno, NV
