Men's Cross Country Remains Fourth

The University of Wisconsin men's cross country team is ranked fourth for the third consecutive week in the Mondo Men's Cross Country Poll, conducted by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association, released Oct. 15.
The Badgers are the top-ranked Big Ten Conference team in the poll and also lead the Great Lakes Region for the third consecutive week this season. Wisconsin is the two-time defending Big Ten champion and the two-time defending NCAA Great Lakes Regional champion.
Colorado, which finished second in the 2000 NCAA Championship, is ranked first for the fourth consecutive poll and receives 14 of 16 first-place votes. Stanford stays in second and defending NCAA champion Arkansas remains third. Wisconsin and Great Lakes Regional-foe Notre Dame round out the top five teams, respectively
Among Big Ten teams, the Badgers lead the way in fourth. Michigan remains 12th and Michigan State falls two spots to No. 18. Indiana moves on to the poll for the first time this season and is ranked 23rd. Penn State receives two votes.
The Badgers look to defend their Big Ten title on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the University of Illinois Golf Course in Savoy, Ill. The men's 8000-meter race begins at 11:30 a.m.
