August 22, 2003 | Men's Golf
Wisconsin men's head golf coach Jim Schuman has named William 'B.J. ' Endicott, an assistant golf and teaching professional at Hawks Landing Golf Course, to the Badgers' assistant coach position. A 2001 graduate of Wisconsin, Endicott was a double major in kinesiology/exercise science and zoology.
'B.J. is not only an outstanding teacher and player, ' Schuman said, 'but his background in kinesiology will be a great asset to our team in the off-season as he will play a major role in the development of our strength and flexibility programs.
'B.J. is also very much in touch with junior golf both in and around the Wisconsin area, as well as the U.S.'
Trained for a year and a half under the guidance of Schuman, the 2003 Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year, Endicott instructed some of the state's top junior players, including three individual WIAA state champions, Wisconsin State Golf Association junior amateur and mid-amateur champions, in addition to Division I college players and two-time PGA Tour winner Jerry Kelly.
An enrolled PGA apprentice, Endicott also directed junior golf camps and used his expertise in audio and visual golf instruction techniques during his tenure at Hawks Landing.
The Viroqua, Wis., native worked as a summer youth golf coordinator in his hometown (1996-2001) prior to graduation from UW. A member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma, the academic national honor society, Endicott was named to the UW Dean's List 10 of 11 semesters.
His studies in kinesiology/exercise science and zoology also provided an opportunity to spend one summer as a research fellow in cardiology for the Gunderson Lutheran Medical Foundation in La Crosse, Wis. During his fellowship, he performed clinical research and data analysis on premature coronary artery disease, while assisting with the development of a new congestive heart failure clinic.
Endicott currently lives in Madison.
