Badgers Remain No. 1

The Wisconsin men's cross country team remains No. 1 in the Mondo Men 's Cross Country poll for the fourth week in a row. Wisconsin received 12 out of 14 first-place votes, while No. 2 Stanford earned one, along with No. 4 Arkansas. The poll is conducted by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association and was released Oct. 19.
Colorado jumped three spots to No. 3 this week, while Notre Dame moved up four to No. 5. The Badgers are one of six Big Ten teams to be ranked in the top-30 this week. Michigan fell two spots to a tie at No. 7 with Georgetown, while Indiana jumped up six spots to No. 13. Rounding out the top-30 is Minnesota, ranked 19th, followed by No. 27 Michigan State, and No. 30 Iowa.
Last weekend, the Badger's won the Jim Drews Invitational for the third year in a row, winning the title with 30 team points. Five Wisconsin runners placed in the top-10, with Simon Bairu finishing first for Wisconsin, fourth overall.
The Jim Drews Invite was the last race for UW until the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, Oct. 31, in Iowa City, Iowa. Wisconsin hopes to capture its sixth consecutive title under head coach Jerry Schumacher and 38th overall.
