Men Tie for First at Radrick/Farms Invitational

Despite a six-stroke deficit heading into the final round, the UW managed to catch both Purdue and Memphis for a share of the Michigan Radrick/Farms Invitational championship. The Badgers made their move on the final 18 holes with the lowest team score of the day (289). The team gradually moved up from fifth in the standings with rounds of 297, 285 and 289 (871) to end the tournament seven-over par.
Sophomore Garrett Jones established a new career-best tournament finish with a second-place performance (74-71-69=214) three strokes behind Memphis ' Kevin Fortin-Simard's overall score of 211. Jones' final round was the lowest score he has posted during his collegiate career. Jones tied with Rice 's Matt Toohey and Purdue's Bobby Bennett for the tournament's runner-up spot.
Onalaska's Jeff Kaiser rounded out Wisconsin's top-ten presence with a one-over par, ninth-place effort (74-72-71= 217). The 2003 WIAA Division State Tournament champion turned in the team's second-lowest score during his collegiate debut.
Senior Brian Brodell finished four strokes back to tie four others at five-over par (74-71-76=221). Brodell's 24th-place finish was bolstered by his low round of 71 Saturday afternoon. Classmate Ryan Conn finished one stroke back of Brodell (75-74-73=222) to finish tied for 29th. Conn's final round was just one stroke over his previous collegiate-best round, set during the final round of the 2003 Nestle Purina Classic.
