UW Tied for Seventh at Memphis Intercollegiate

The Wisconsin men's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place with Michigan and is just two strokes out of fourth place after Monday's opening 36 holes of the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.
Junior Garrett Jones (Rewey, Wis.) and freshman Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) paced the Badgers in the second round as each shot a 73. UW posted a 295 in the afternoon round to climb four spots in the team standings after a first round 302.
Jones ended the day tied for 13th place at 3-over 147. Obermueller is just two shots back in a tie for 27th place at 149. Fellow freshman Ben Herrera (Waukee, Iowa) posted a new career best for 36 holes after two rounds of 75. Herrera is tied for 34th place at 150 with 18 holes to play.
Sophomore Jeff Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) improved upon his opening round 77 with a 74 in the afternoon and is tied for 36th place at 151. In his first action of the season, junior Adam Steinhofer (Madison, Wis.) closed out the Wisconsin effort with rounds of 77 and 87.
Host-school Memphis leads the 15-team tournament at 3-over 579, nine shots better than Southern Mississippi and Kansas State. Memphis's Keven Fortin-Simard leads the field at 8-under 136.
Play resumes at the Memphis Intercollegiate at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Colonial Country Club.
