April 17, 2005 | Men's Golf
The Wisconsin men's golf team shot a 299 during the final round of the Boilermaker Invitational Sunday afternoon to earn ninth place, five strokes ahead of Michigan. The Badgers' effort on the par 72, 7,209-yard Kampen Course (301-295-299=895) left them five strokes shy of Iowa's 890.
Kevin Tassistro (77-69-75) maintained his team-leading position from day one to earn a 16th-place tie with six others at 221. Tassistro's finish in the tournament is the highest of the season, improving on 30th-place ties at the Northern Intercollegiate and Lexus/Peter Jacobsen Invitational.
Jeff Kaiser steadied the Wisconsin effort with a final round 75 to card a 224 for the tournament (78-71-75), earning a 29th-place tie with two other players at eight shots over par.
Garrett Jones shot his lowest round of the tournament with a 74 on his way to a 43rd-place finish (79-75-74=228) while Ryan Conn placed 54th on the leader board with an effort of 77 on the final day (73-80-77=230). Brian Brodell completed the effort in a 56th-place tie thanks to an 11-stroke improvement during the final round (73-86-75=234).
Wisconsin's spring season continues April 23-24 at the Robert Kepler Invitational on the Ohio State University Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
