Jones and DeLawyer Shoot Solid Final Rounds

Behind the strength of a pair of 72s from Garrett Jones and A.J. DeLawyer, the Badgers improved two spots on the team leader board to finish in sole possession of tenth-place at the Fossum/Taylor Made Invitational with a combined score of 899 (302-301-296).
Jones was Wisconsin's highest tournament finisher for the second time this spring, tying for 17th with six others (74-75-72=221). His three-stroke improvement in the final round helped Jones climb 18 spots in the standings during the final day and earn his fifth top-20 tournament finish of the season.
After shooting two 79s in the first day of the tournament, freshman A.J. DeLawyer responded in the final round with a 72 to tie for the team's lowest round of the tournament while leaping 19 places up the leader board to a 56th-place tie (79-79-72=230).
Jeff Kaiser followed two strokes in back of Jones in the standings, totaling 228 over three rounds (76-75-77) to tie for 45th while Brian Brodell used a solid opening-day effort to earn a 49th-place tie (73-75-81=229).
Kevin Tassistro capped the Wisconsin effort in the tournament with his lowest round of the tournament in the final round, using a 75 to gain a tie for 61st (80-76-75=231).
Minnesota rose from a third-place tie after the day one to capture the tournament's team medal with an 867-stroke performance (292-291-284). Minnesota's Ben Greve (70-74-66) and Indiana's Todd Overton (68-67-75) tied for the individual medal at 210 strokes.
Wisconsin hosts the Big Ten Men's Golf Championships Friday-Sunday, May 6-8 on University Ridge in Verona. All 11 Big Ten schools will compete on the par-72, 6,888-yard course.
