Badgers Finish 14th at Cleveland State Invite

The Wisconsin men's golf team moved up to 14th place after scoring a 305 in the final round of the Cleveland State Invitational Tuesday morning at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio.
Junior Garrett Jones (Rewey, Wis.) and sophomore Jeff Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) led the scoring effort for the Badgers. Jones closed the tournament with a 73 and finished in a tie for fourth place at one-over par (71-70-73=214). Kaiser shot a final round 75 to finish tied for 62nd place at 232 (74-83-75=232) along with freshman Nick Engen (McFarland, Wis.), who recorded a 78 on Tuesday (81-73-78=232).
Freshman Pat Duffy (Appleton, Wis.) posted his second round under 80 to finish in a tie for 70th place at 234 (81-74-79=234). Fellow freshman Ben Herrera (Waukee, Iowa) rounded out the UW effort with an 85 to claim 86th place at 243 (83-75-85=243).
Louisville jumped from seventh place to claim the team title by posting a 2-under par 282 to close the tournament at 871. Gary Woodland from Kansas held on to win the indivdual title at 11-under par 202.
The Badgers return to action Sept. 24-25 at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
