
Wisconsin Finishes Third at the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge

The Wisconsin men's golf team shot a 298 in the final round to finish third with a 894 (300-296-298) Tuesday, at the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, played at the par-71, 6,633-yard Pacific Dunes in Bandon, Ore.
As light rain in the morning gave way to sunny skies, Junior Jeff Kaiser (Onalska, Wis.) led Wisconsin's third place finish. Kaiser shot a 73 on the final day to finish tied for third with a five-over par 218 (75-70-73).
Sophomore Tyler Obermueller's (River Falls, Wis.) final-round 72 was his best of the tournament. He finished tied for 11th place with a 225 (75-78-72). Fellow sophomore Dan Woltman (Beaver Dam, Wis.) wasn't too far behind as he finished with a 54-hole total of 226 (74-75-77), and a tie for 18th place.
Garrett Jones (Rewey, Wis.) and Jordan Elsen (Kenosha, Wis.) rounded out the scoring for Wisconsin as they both finished tied for 28th, and 39th places respectively. Jones, finished with a 229 (80-73-76) while Elsen's final-round 77 helped him to finish with a 232 (76-79-77).
The tournament's team champion was UCLA with a 54-hole total of 885 (284-310-291).
USC's Jamie Lovemark held on to the first-day lead to win the tournament with a score of four-under par 209 (70-72-67). Lovemark's final-round 67 was just three strokes off the course record set by former PGA golfer Scott Simpson.
In the conference challenge portion of the tournament, the Pac-10 won by 29 strokes, 4,488-4,517. This portion of the tournament was scored by having each conference count its lowest five team scores of each round.
