How I Spent My Thanksgiving
November 28, 2006 | Women's Swimming & Diving
As the University of Wisconsin men's and women's swimming and diving teams prepare for this weekend's Texas Invitational, they took a moment to share what they did for Thanksgiving last week.
Andrea Wiesner:
'Thanksgiving Day I cooked a turkey, and my two brothers, (former UW swimmer) Eric and (current UW swimmer) Steven, came over and we ate together. Eric made cranberries and a delicious pumpkin pie, and Steven helped me with the turkey, setting the table and cleaning up.'
Brett Koerten:
'I traveled to Tennessee, ate dinner with my family and had a great time. I saw some of my friends, watched a lot of football and ate a lot of food.'
Tom Molzahn:
'I had Thanksgiving dinner with my closest relatives'grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. There were a couple of aunts and uncles I hadn't seen in a long time, and it was good to see them again. I really enjoyed having turkey with everybody.'
Christine Wanezek:
'This year I celebrated Thanksgiving with my parents and my dad's side of the family. I went to my aunt's house in Green Bay'my dad's side of the family lives there'and I helped out by doing the dishes.'
Gwen Jorgensen:
'I went home for Thanksgiving, and we had 12 people over at our house. I basically just watched my parents and cheered them on while they cooked a fabulous meal. '
Kristy Brager:
'For Thanksgiving I took (teammates) Hannah McClurg and Taylor Mathis home to Green Bay because Hannah's from California and Taylor's from North Carolina. On Wednesday, we went to the local wildlife sanctuary and fed the geese. On Thanksgiving, we had a bunch of relatives from Madison come to Green Bay. Grandma made the meal, and it was delicious.'
Scott Rice:
'I stayed in Madison over Thanksgiving, and I had Thanksgiving with (teammates) Nick Bennett and Mike Swanson. We got food from Boston Market, and it was really good. We basically watched football all day and ate.'
Tommy Gregory:
'I went home to Cedarburg, Wis., for Thanksgiving. I had a big 20-pound turkey with my family, and I got a lot of the leftovers. I watched some movies, played some Yahtzee and had a good time overall.'
Katie Imhoff-Smith:
'I went home for Thanksgiving. I hung out with my family and had a really large dinner for just four people, so I brought home tons of leftovers.'
Sara Goff:
'I went home for Thanksgiving, back to Minneapolis. I had a great time with my family. We had lots of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing. I also saw my friends and had a good time.'
