After leading Wisconsin to its first ever national championship in 1982, John Easker left as one of the most decorated runners in Badger history. A four-time All-American, one of only four members in program history to accomplish that feat, Easker was also the 1983 Big Ten Conference individual champion and earned first team All-Big Ten honors in 1984. He also exemplified what it meant to be a student athlete, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 1985.
How has your academic experience assisted you in your chosen career'
My academic experience has introduced me to some of the top people in the industry and I continue to use the new technology that these people and others are continuing to introduce.
What is your favorite memory from being at Wisconsin '
Being a member of the 1982 National Championship cross country team.
What was the best thing about being a Badger '
I was very fortunate in having two of the best coaches in College Athletics in Dan McClimon and Martin Smith.
What life lessons did you learn during college '
I've learned to appreciate the wonderful people I met along the way and the friendships made.
What was your favorite class at Wisconsin '
I liked my Physiology class because I was able to use alot of the things learned in my current job.
What was your favorite part of campus' Where did you spend most of your time'
My favorite part of campus was also these areas. Growing up on a farm helped me to feel more at home. I probably spent most of my time at practice or in the library.
What advice would you give current student-athletes '
They should try and work their hardest both academically and athletically so that they will never have any regrets and to take advantage of the services that the athletic department and the university provides. Lastly, to enjoy their experience to the fullest.
