UW in 10th at Fossum Invitational

With its best team score in seven weeks in the afternoon, the Wisconsin men's golf team is in 10th place after the first two rounds of the Fossum Invitational Saturday at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.
The Badgers carded a 294 in the second round, their best score since a 292 in the third round of the Orange County Invitational back on March 5. Paired with an opening round 308, Wisconsin closed out the day at 602, one stroke ahead of Iowa.
Junior Garrett Jones (Rewey, Wis.) paced the Badgers with rounds of 73 and 74. Jones is tied for 16th place at 147 heading into Sunday's final round. Jones has finished worse than 23rd only twice this season in 10 tournaments.
Freshman Pat Duffy (Appleton, Wis.) posted the best round of the day for UW with a 71 in the afternoon. Duffy is tied for 30th place at 149 through 36 holes.
Fellow freshman Tyler Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) shaved five shots off of his opening round 79 in the afternoon and is tied for 47th place at 153.
Playing in his third consecutive tournament, junior Adam Steinhofer (Madison, Wis.) is tied for 52nd place at 154. Five of Steinhofer's last six rounds have been under his season scoring average of 80.4.
Sophomore Jeff Kaiser (Onalaska, Wis.) recovered from a first round 82 to shoot a 75 in the afternoon. Kaiser, who has posted Wisconsin's best finish in the last two tournaments, is in 61st place at 157.
Indiana leads the 12-team tournament at 1-under 575. Charlie Soule from Denver and Chris Wilson from Northwestern share the individual lead at 6-under 138.
The final round of the Fossum Invitational takes place Sunday at Forest Akers West Golf Course.
