
Badgers Too Much for UW-Milwaukee

The University of Wisconsin women's swimming and diving continues to impress early in the season. Tonight's opponent was UW-Milwaukee and the Badgers made easy work of the Panthers as they routed them with a final score of 166-72 Friday evening at the UW Natatorium. It proved to be a fitting way to send the seniors out on senior night.
The Badgers were clearly the superior team as they won all 13 events. In fact, the team has 38 of the 42 events they have competed in this year.
The big finisher on the evening was senior Hannah McClurg. She was a part of three        different first-place finishes, including two as an individual. She started by helping the        200-yard medley relay team win in a time of 1:47.73, then went on to win the 200-yard        freestyle (1:53.91) and the 100-yard freestyle (52.80).
        
Also winning multiples times on the evening were sophomores Rosie Morahan and Candice Peak and freshman Maggie Meyer. Morahan and Peak were both a part of the 200-yard medley relay team. Morahan won individually in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:04.51, while Peak won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.39.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Meyer continued her strong season with a first-place finish in        a time of 24.49. She also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.73.
        
Freshman Ciara Rinaudo also got into the act on Friday evening. She swept the diving events by winning the 1-meter board with a score of 314.93 and the 3-meter board with a score of 316.65.
The Badgers also took home first-place finishes in four other events.
Junior Jen Illesacas finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:20.71.
Senior Katie Imhoff-Smith took won the 100-yard butterfly. She finished in a time of 57.14.
Sophomore Gabby Maddalena won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:57.47.
The Badgers also won the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of seniors Jenny Will and Jenny Gelden, junior Christine Zwiegers and sophomore Sara Goff finished in a time of 1:37.40.
The University of Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team returns to action Oct. 26 and 27 when they travel to Dallas, Texas for the SMU Classic at the Perkins Natatorium.
