November 29, 2007 | Men's Golf
The University of Wisconsin men's golf team is thrilled to announce the signing of Brady Keegan to become a future student-athlete in the program.
'What impresses you the most about Brady's game is how mature he is for a young player,' head coach Jim Schuman said. 'We are looking for Brady to make an immediate impact on our program.'
Assistant coach Brian Brodell echoed Schuman's compliments about Keegan.
'A lot of guys from our team already know Brady since he's from Wisconsin and I'm very confident that he'll be a great fit. He's very mature and coachable. I see him wanting to be a great teammate, student and friend in his time as a Badger.'
Keegan, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., and senior at Eau Claire Memorial will bring many accolades along with him to UW. Keegan is a two-time Big Rivers Conference player of the year and was named first-team All-State in both golf and hockey in 2007.
The two-sport athlete has also achieved much success in tournament play throughout his young career. Keegan won the 2005 Westfield Junior PGA Section Championship, came in third place in the 2005 state high school championship and also placed third in both the 2006 AJGA Open in Wales, Wisc., and the 2006 AJGA Buick Open. Furthermore, Keegan finished 10th in the 2005 Junior PGA Championship and 12th in the 2006 Junior PGA Championship.
'I played alongside Brady in the 2006 State Open and remember wishing that I could have carried myself with the demeanor he displayed when I was his age,' Brodell said. 'Along with his wonderful attitude, Brady has an amazing touch around the green. He always gives himself a chance to save par.'
Brady Keegan will join the Badgers as a freshman next year for the team's 2008-09 campaign.
