The West Chicago, Ill. native is a two-time All-American and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2006 and 2007. Vavrek is one of the team captains for the 2007-08 season and hopes to qualify for the Olympics.
She was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week at the beginning of the season on October 9, 2007 and holds all four top-season times in the 50-yard freestyle.
Vavrek has amassed numerous NCAA 'B' time standards this season and was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that earned an automatic NCAA time standard at the Texas Invitational on November 30 with a time of 1:30.71.
The Badgers have a few weeks off before they compete against Hawaii on January 12, 2008 in Honolulu.
