
Badger Harriers Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The University of Wisconsin women's cross country team was one of 145 teams that were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as an All-Academic Team. The Badgers, who finished fourth at the 2006 NCAA Championships, also compiled a cumulative team grade point average of 3.258.
To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams were required to compete in an NCAA regional meet and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
UW senior Katrina Rundhaug earned individual All-Academic honors by the USTFCCCA. The senior from Dodgeville, Wis., placed 23rd at the NCAA championships, earning All-America honors. She is majoring in nursing.
For the Badger men, senior Tim Nelson also earned individual All-Academic recognition. A native of Palo Cedro, Calif., Nelson finished 18th at the NCAA championship, earning his second cross country All-America honor. He is majoring in communication arts.
To earn All-Academic individual honors, runners were required to have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and also place in the top 15 or top-10 percent at an NCAA regional meet. Seventy-six women and 50 men earned All-Academic honors for the 2006 cross country season.
