
Badgers Place First at Pioneer Invitational

The University of Wisconsin men's cross country team won the Pioneer Invitational for the second consecutive year by recording a perfect score of 15 Saturday at Minooka Park in Waukesha, Wis.
The Badgers swept the top nine spots and placed all 10 of their runners among 12 finishers.
Sophomore Andrew Lacy (McFarland, Wis) led the way for Wisconsin, capturing the Individual title by covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:56.8.
Close on his heels were six of Lacy's teammates, all of whom finished less than two seconds behind.
Redshirt freshman Landon Peacock (Morley, Mich.) finished second, crossing the finish line in 25:57.1. Ryan Gasper (Fort Atkinson, Wis.), redshirt freshman Ryan Craven (Mount Prospect, Ill.) and redshirt freshman Jack Bolas (Chapel Hill, N.C.) took the next three spots to round out the scoring for the Badgers, finishing in 25:57.4, 25:57.6 and 25:57.9, respectively.
Junior Christian Wagner (Columbus, Ind.) and redshirt freshman David Pede (Greenfield, Wis.) were next to finish, placing sixth and seventh in times of 25:58.2 and 26:07.2, respectively.
Also competing for the Badgers were redshirt freshman Noah Shannon (Fort Collins, Colo.), sophomore Tim Pierie (Mokena, Ill.) and senior Ben Porter (East Troy, Wis.), who placed eighth, ninth and 12th, in times of 26:14.3, 26:27.7 and 27:00.6, respectively.
For Peacock, Craven, Bolas, Pede and Shannon, it was their first meet competing in a Badger uniform.
The Badgers are next in action Sept. 29, at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore. The race is slated to begin at 10: 15 a.m.
