
Woltman Finishes Season at NCAA Championships

Round three of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships resumed at 7 a.m. Saturday due to play being halted Friday evening as severe weather was in the West Lafayette, Ind. area.
Junior Dan Woltman shot a 77, which brought his three round total score to 230 (82-71-77). The Beaver Dam, Wis. native finished tied for 63rd. Unfortunately, he missed the cut to qualify for the fourth and final round of competition at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The top 15 teams and six individuals not on the advancing teams will compete in Saturday 's final round. Jurrian Van der Vaart of Virginia Tech won a three-way playoff for the final individual spot as he birdied on the fourth playoff hole.
UCLA was the top team going into the final round and Kevin Chappell of the Bruins held his lead over all individual golfers at the completion of the third round.
The defending NCAA individual champion, Jamie Lovemark of Southern California, is in a four-way tie for 57th place heading into the fourth round.
Stanford, the defending NCAA team champions, is in fourth place prior to the final round.
Woltman became the first UW golfer to qualify for consecutive NCAA Championships as an individual competitor.
