Former Wisconsin golfer Jon Turcott shot a shot a 3-under par 67 Friday in the second round of the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee and is tied for 64th place at -2 for the tournament. Turcott made the cut on the number and will be paired with D.J. Trahan and Brad Adamonis in Saturday's third round. That threesome will tee off on No. 10 starting at 10:40 a.m. CT.
Turcott started his round playing wonderfully, recording birdies on five of his first 10 holes to get to 4-under for the tournament. Bogeys on the par 4 fourth hole (Turcott 's 13th of the round) as well as one on his final hole, the par 4 ninth, put him at 3-under for the day.
Dan Woltman, a current member of the Wisconsin golf team and the only amateur in the field, shot a 1-under par 69 in Friday's round. His two-round tournament total of 141 was 1-over par and good for a share of 86th place. Like Turcott, Woltman started on the back nine and made a charge. Following an opening-round 72, Woltman birdied three of his first nine holes to get to 1-under for the tournament. He gave a shot back on his 10th hole (No. 1) to fall back to even then bogeyed No. 7 (his 16th of the day) to finish at 1-over for the tournament.
UW men's golf coach Jim Schuman, who entered the day tied with Woltman at +2, didn't get off to the same sort of start as the other two Badgers. Teeing off on No. 1, Schuman was +4 on the day and 6-over for the tournament after a bogey on No. 10. He settled down to play his final eight holes in 2-under par, birdieing Nos. 15 and 18.
Richard S. Johnson and Nick Flanagan hold the 36-hole lead at 10-under par. Johnson, the first-round leader, shot a 3-under par 67 while Flanagan jumped into contention with a 63.
