July 20, 2008 | Men's Golf
Former Wisconsin golfer Jon Turcott shot an even-par 70 in Sunday's final round to finish at 3-under par at the 2008 U.S. Bank Championship at Brown Deer Park Golf Course in Milwaukee. That was good for a share of 64th place.
It was the second time Turcott had made the cut at Milwaukee's annual PGA tour stop. He finished in a tie for 56th at the 2002 Greater Milwaukee Open.
Turcott began Sunday's final round at No. 10. He bogeyed Nos. 13 and 14 to drop to 1-under for the tournament. A birdie on No. 15 got him one shot back but he gave it back with a bogey on the next hole. Another birdie on No. 18 (his ninth hole of the day) put Turcott at 2-under par at the turn.
Turcott then reeled off five straight pars before a birdie on the par 5 sixth hole. For the tournament, Turcott played the par 5s (Nos. 6, 15 and 18) in 9-under par. He finished the tournament with three consecutive pars.
Turcott played his final round with Will MacKenzie and Tommy Armour, III. MacKenzie also shot a 70 while Armour closed with a 73. Richard S. Johnson, the first-round leader, won the tournament with a total of 16-under par.
