Badgers are No. 2 in preseason rankings
September 15, 2008 | Men's Cross Country
Two days after sweeping their first meet of the year, the Wisconsin men's cross country team found itself ranked No. 2 in the Great Lakes Regional preseason poll as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Badgers won the Regional meet a year ago, but find themselves trailing Michigan in the first poll of 2008. Fellow Big Ten schools Michigan State (No. 4), Indiana (No. 5) and Ohio State (No. 8) are also in the top 10.
Last Saturday the Badgers claimed the top five spots at the Northern Illinois Huskie Open, with the four winning runners crossing the finish line at the same time. Wisconsin will next run at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational at Loyola University on Saturday, September 27th.
